Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Life

The Environmental Audit Committee of the House of Commons launched its current enquiry into the impact of toxic chemicals in everyday life on human health and the environment on the 12th February. The inquiry is focussing on how toxic chemicals are used in everyday products, such as furniture, food and toys, current government regulation of these substances, and the environmental and human health problems associated with them. The Association was invited to give evidence and our Honorary Secretary, Dr Duncan Campbell, appeared before it on the 30th April.

Visit by "Food Unwrapped" to Kent PA Laboratory

The experts at Kent Scientific Services have been called on to help with an investigation for the Channel 4 programme "Food Unwrapped". Presenter Jimmy Doherty visited the Public Analyst Laboratory which is part of Kent's Public Protection operation, as they carried out tests on a variety of fish. The programme was looking at the healthier lifestyle of the Japanese, which has been related to their consumption of raw fish.

Allergy Deaths in the Spotlight

Public Analyst Dr Duncan Campbell was interviewed for ITV’s Tonight Programme ( #ITVTonight ) broadcast at 7.30pm on 29th November 2018 on ITV1. The programme focussed on the deaths of Megan Lee and Natasha Ednan-Laperouse who were both aged 15 when they died after eating food containing undeclared allergens.
