Rip Off Britain team visit Staffordshire Public Analyst's Laboratory

Julia Somerville visited the Staffordshire Laboratory on 11th June for the BBC programme Rip Off Britain. The programme makers were interested in looking at cosmetics that were fake versions of proprietary brands and contained high levels of contaminant metals.

Sudan Surfaces Ten Years On

The dye Sudan I came to public attention in 2003 when it was discovered in batches of Chili Powder. Its presence in a batch of Worchester Sauce which was used as an ingredient in many ready-meals lead to large scale product recalls in 2005. More than decade on chili powder containing 1,500 mg/kg of Sudan I and 460 mg/kg of Sudan IV was found on sale.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency Rescinds Food Recall Warnings for Almond in Cumin

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is advising the public that there is no longer evidence to indicate that the cumin and cumin-containing products described below contain almond. Consequently, based on the information presently available, there is no evidence that these products could pose a risk to individuals allergic to almond.
