Emma Downie of Public Analyst Scientific Services helped with the Royal Society of Chemistry’s efforts to engage young people at the Big Bang Young Scientists and Engineers Fair in Birmingham in June.

The Big Bang is a UK-wide programme to bring science and engineering to life for young people. Led by EngineeringUK working with around 200 partners, the Big Bang celebrates and raises the profile of young people’s achievements in science and engineering and encourages young people to take part in science, technology, engineering and maths initiatives with support from their parents and teachers. The Big Bang West Midlands is part of The Big Bang Near Me, a programme of events which takes place across the UK to enable young people to discover the exciting and rewarding careers that their science and maths subjects can lead to in their region and beyond.

The event follows on from a national event at which Emma also helped and was very well attended, providing an interesting and exciting day out to youngsters from around the West Midlands.
