RSC President Prof Lesley Yellowlees made the opening address at this year’s Public Analyst Conference in Edinburgh.

She did not feel under too much pressure following her recent appearance on Newsnight when an experiment designed to demonstrate the Mpemba Effect failed due to a faulty fridge. One of the themes of the conference was learning from food scares and speakers included Prof Hugh Pennington.
