  • President Talks About Horse Meat in Burgers on BBC Breakfast

Liz Moran, President of the APA, was interviewed on Thursday 17th January on the BBC1 Breakfast News about the breaking horse meat scandal. She highlighted the lack of enforcement and testing in this area in the UK in recent years and the budget cuts leading to a lack of resources to check for potential problems in the food chain. Asked whether consumption of horse meat is illegal she said ‘horse meat is not illegal but not declaring it on the food label is misleading to the consumer. People have a right to know what they are eating.” The Food Standards Agency is now investigating the issue as a matter of urgency.
