  • Parliamentary Select Committee publishes meat contamination report following horse meat scandal

    The report also calls on the government to ensure local authorities have sufficient resources to enforce food standards and for the Food Standards Agency to be a more effective regulator. APA President Liz Moran said ‘The horse meat incident has highlighted how vulnerable the food chain is to fraud and adulteration. The government must ensure that adequate controls and resources are in place to ensure consumers are protected from criminal activity and this includes supporting the public analyst profession.’’;
