  • LGC Guidance Videos on Food Allergy and the catering sector

The inclusion in prepacked food of any of 14 major allergens, defined by Annex II to Regulation 1169/2011(replacing Annex IIIa to Directive 2000/13/EC) triggers, with certain limited exemptions, specific labelling requirements which will be extended on 13th December 2014 to non-pre-packed food including catering establishments.

Can the catering sector cope with the new 2014 requirements to make allergen information available and will the information be accurate or a risk? The LGC/safefood Food Allergy & Food Intolerance Network has produced a set of freely available videos to support businesses with guidance and advice so that the intent of the new regulations can be realised.

The videos show how a commercial kitchen successfully copes with preparing and serving food for people with allergy. Please feel free to use the videos in any training activities you undertake.
