GSS Scientific Adviser Supports Rescue Operation
Emergency services conducted a search operation on Saturday morning after the Police Scotland aircraft fell out of the sky at 10.25pm on Friday and landed on the packed Clutha pub in Stockwell Street, on the north bank of the River Clyde.
The police have now confirmed there have been 8 fatalities while 32 people have been taken to hospitals across the city to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.
More than 100 people were in the bar watching a live band at the time of the crash, while eyewitnesses described hearing a loud bump before the roof caved in in a cloud of dust under the helicopter’s weight.
