  • Day in the life of an Apprentice

In the interview Rachel stated that she had learned far more at GSS than she would have at college or university, and had definitely gained better skills by doing so, making her more employable. She went on to say “I feel extremely lucky to have come across the modern apprenticeship scheme.  I began with a negative view of apprenticeships, however I now believe that with the right placement, a good employer and a bit of motivation, no-one should complain about them.

Modern Apprenticeships are not just for those who don’t do well at school, this is a really valuable alternative to progressing to College or University. The Commonwealth Apprenticeship Initiative is an extremely good programme, and I would recommend it to anyone –employer or young person!”
