  • Advance Notice Of One Week Residential Course - University of Reading 23-27 April 2012

    This intensive one week residential course aims, in a two year cycle to touch on most of the syllabus for the Mastership in Chemical Analysis, the statutory qualification required to practice as a Public Analyst.
    The course is pitched at postgraduate level and is aimed to fulfil a wide range of aims; it must afford the novice an opportunity to begin to get to grips with the subject matter of the syllabus but also enable the experienced analyst to discuss finer points of practice with experts.
    It is also viewed as a valuable opportunity for staff to update their current experience and perhaps consider further study even if not immediately intending to take the exam.

    Microbiology theory and Practical Classes in the laboratory
    Contaminants in Food
    Materials and Articles in contact with food
    Food Packaging Contaminants
    HACCP
    Heat Treatment of food
    Food and General Toxicology
    AQA and Measurement Uncertainty
    The MChemA Process and MChemA Study Advice
    Foreign body identification (mainly by microscopy)
    Microscopy theory and Practical Classes in the laboratory
    Food Labelling Interactive Exercise
    Drinking Water Quality
    Bottled Water Quality

    There will also be an opportunity for delegates to deliver short presentations on topics of their own choice. A detailed programme will be posted in November 2011.
