At the recent APA annual conference dinner, President Jon Griffin made a special presentation to Alan and Linda Richards, who were both guests of the APA .
In his speech, Jon recognised the contribution that Alan had made to the Association and the Public Analyst profession.  Jon commented “Alan is well respected within our ranks and has worked hard over the years to raise the profile of the Public Analyst role both at home and abroad.  He has held all the offices of the APA (President, Secretary, Treasurer) as well as having worked for six years as an MChemA examiner, two of those as Chief Examiner.”
The award was in recognition of Alan’s achievements and to thank him on behalf of the Association before his imminent retirement in 2017.
In his speech Jon also said “behind every good man there is a good woman and this is no different in Linda’s case.  The Public Analyst role is not a 9 to 5 job, and requires the support of family to fulfil, and Linda has certainly helped Alan over the years.  Not only this but she has been supportive to the profession and has contributed to APA events including the three APA Conferences in the North East (Durham and Newcastle in 2007-2009).  Our thanks go to them both.”
