  • Still finding horse DNA in samples two months into the scandal

    Tesco has withdrawn a line of frozen meatloaf made by County Down company Eurostock Foods. The product made on the firm's premises outside Bleary has been found to contain horsemeat Labelled as Tesco Simply Roast Meatloaf, the product was withdrawn after tests revealed it contained between 2% and 5% horsemeat. Eurostock Foods said it was shocked and disappointed by the discovery and that it was launching an investigation.

  • Worcestershire Scientific Services pull out all the stops to meet demand for DNA testing

    Worcestershire County Council’s Scientific Services, based in Worcester, has analysed almost 1,000 samples since the scandal began, from a mixture of businesses and local authorities. Staff have been carrying out tests for horsemeat and are working extra hours and at weekends to deal with increased demand – but to date have had no positive results in samples from the county.

  • Scottish Public Analysts' labs detect horse meat DNA in school burgers

    Traces of horse DNA have been found in a frozen burger within a school kitchen in North Lanarkshire. Procurement agency Scotland Excel has, as a result, advised Scotland councils to "place a hold on the use of all frozen beef burger products".
