Food Labelling, Supplements & Diet
Annual Conference 2006

The Association's Annual Conference was held in the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre over two days at the end of September. Participants heard from speakers representing a wide range of organisations, including the Food Standards Agency, the Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, the Soil Association and the Scottish Food & Drinks Federation.

Speaking to the media at the start of the conference, in his role as retiring Association President, Mr Norman Michie commented: "While every aspect of the work public analysts do to ensure public safety is important, there is no doubt that the safety of the food we eat is paramount. Given the increasing pressures on us all to eat more healthily, it's essential that labelling on food packaging is accurate and that the packet, tin or box contains what the label says it does. The Association's Annual Conference is a chance for public analysts, who are scattered in laboratories throughout the country, to get together to discuss and consider a wide range of topics affecting our work".
