The Agency has produced a summary of its research published in April 2012. These include three projects monitoring the levels of chemicals in food; an assessment of the method used to detect irradiated food; an investigation into the apparent loss of fumonisins during food processing; and two projects that considered the effective delivery of healthy eating messages in Scotland.

Official controls review research contract awarded

The Food Standards Agency has contracted Hartley McMaster Ltd to develop an overview of the delivery of official controls for food and feed safety and standards. This research will provide a high level description of how local authorities and port health authorities across the UK monitor and secure business compliance with food and feed law.

FSA consultation on the Food Safety (Sampling and Qualifications) Regulations

Tthe Food Standard Agency’s (FSA) seeks stakeholders’ views on the proposal to revise the FS(S&Q) Regulations 1990 and bring them up to date. The proposal will include amendments to the food examiner qualifications and sampling provisions and to introduce guidance on procedures to recognise equivalent EU qualifications and training for food/public analysts and food examiners
