APAS Chairman Steps Down
The Public Analysts based in Scotland are members of the APA but also have their own association "The Association of Public Analysts of Scotland" (APAS) which has been in existence for 104 years.
At the AGM of the APAS on 12th December 2006 Dr Charlie McDonald stood down as Chairman. Charlie retired from Glasgow Scientific Services on 22nd December 2006 after almost 10 years as head of the laboratory.
In addition to his role as Chairman of the APAS he has been an excellent Chairman of APA Training Committee and will continue in that role for some time after his official retirement
As a token of their appreciation members of APAS presented Charlie with a fine bottle of whisky and decanter. Charlie is pictured above receiving his gifts from incoming APAS Madam Chairman Jane Couper of Dundee Scientific Services.
Charlie is well known for his excellent (?) choice in ties which have brightened up many a dull meeting. For his last meeting of the Scottish Association he chose a snappy Christmas number which is illustrated on the left. We wish him a long and happy retirement.
